Meet Libby – Groovin’ It 4NF
I met Libby Huffer four years ago at our inaugural Great Steps 4NF walk in Fort Wayne. I found her to be a beautiful and groovy woman…which is appropriate since she has now put together a Groovin’ 4NF concert for August 2nd.
Libby was diagnosed with NF1 at age five and didn’t have many NF related problems as a child. At the age of sixteen she started noticing fibromas. When she became pregnant at 21 she developed more fibromas and she has continued to get more over the years. Since around the age of 25, Libby has dealt with problems from depression and anxiety, as well as pain from tumors on her spine.
More recently Libby has become very proactive in her NF fight. In 2009 she participated in clinical trial through the National Institutes of Health and she has been a part of the Fort Wayne Great Steps 4NF walk since its beginning in 2010.
Libby draws her strength from her amazing relationship with 21 year old daughter, Lindsey, and from raising awareness and funds for the NF cause. She hopes for a cure and for an understanding society. She wishes that everyone would simply ask about her bumps and is happy to educate.
Today Libby is a full time commercial photographer for Sweetwater Sound in Fort Wayne. She is using the connections and concerns of her musical friends to hold a concert called Groovin’ 4NF at the Sweetwater Auditorium on Saturday, August 2nd. The concert headliner is Pink Droyd, an extremely popular Pink Floyd tribute band with an opening by Marnée, another well-known musician in the area.
